Thesis Title

Structural and functional changes at the knee after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

Research overview

Incidence of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) has increased tremendously in the past decade. Understanding the changes at the knee after ACLR is crucial to designing better surgical and rehabilitation protocols. In the current study, the structural and functional changes at the knee are evaluated after measuring accurately the kinematics at the knee using mobile biplane fluoroscopy imaging. The cruciate ligament lengths, the knee extensor mechanism, and the moments at the knee, hip, and ankle are measured and compared between the ACLR and the contralateral knee.
