Thesis Title

Data-driven approaches for measuring tibiofemoral joint kinematics following total knee arthroplasty

Research overview

Accurate measurement of knee joint motion during activities of daily living can provide insight into clinical outcomes and patient recovery following TKA surgery. However, inaccessibility of measurement techniques due to cost of equipment and data processing requirements typically limits kinematic analysis to a laboratory or research environment. Hence, this research aims to:
- Analyse kinematic performance of total knee arthroplasty implant designs across a range of daily activities.
- Investigate data-driven approaches for measuring total knee arthroplasty implant kinematics during level walking using wearable sensors.
