Thesis Title
Holistic integration of manufacturing systems for energy efficiency through clean energy technologies
Research overview
Adoption of clean energy technologies increases the difficulty of energy system operation for manufacturing factories. Challenges arise in 4 aspects: heterogeneous components, uncertain energy behaviour of components, time-varying operation requirements, and integration is limited by computing power. Existing literature assumes operation requirements are not time-varying and utilize fixed models to provide operation strategies under fixed requirements. The purpose of this project is to categorize operation requirements of manufacturing factories and utilize corresponding models for global optimisation. The expected outcome of this project would be an integrated operation strategy for manufacturing factory energy systems, continuously providing optimized schedules for components.
