Thesis Title
Measurement and analysis of streamwise vortices embedded in boundary layers
Research overview
Wall-bounded turbulent flows with additional perturbations, such as pressure gradient and the effect of heterogeneous roughness, has been widely investigated over the past two decades. Among them, turbulent boundary layer flow embedded with organized streamwise vortices is often present in many aerodynamics and hydrodynamics applications. In this research, we will perturb turbulent boundary layer with additional streamwise vortices, see how the turbulent boundary layer responds to these streamwise vortices and develops downstream of the flow and explore the underlying flow physics.
