Thesis title

A Bayesian Approach to Energy-Based Condition Monitoring of Manufacturing Systems

Research overview

Traditionally, energy monitoring of processes was motivated by environmental concerns, disconnected
from the actual process performance and reliability. However, energy and performance are intertwined,
meaning a degraded system condition can cause power consumption or product quality deviations. The
proposed research aims to investigate an approach to condition monitoring, fault detection and diagnosis
based on the analysis of a system’s energy consumption to infer on its condition.
