Thesis title
Development of nanoscience based moder electric double layer theory model for ion transport inside nanochannels
Research overview
My research aims to develop extended Poisson–Nernst–Planck models for ion transport in nanoconfined electrolytes. The project will improve classical continuum descriptions by incorporating molecular-level effects, such as potentials of mean force, ion–surface interactions, excluded-volume effects, and interfacial water polarization. By linking atomistic physical interactions with mesoscale transport equations, this research seeks to provide a more accurate description of ion distribution, electrostatic screening, and electrical double-layer formation in nanopores. The outcomes may support the rational design of electrochemical systems, including nanoporous electrodes, membranes, and energy storage devices.
