Thesis title
Simulations of turbine blade cooling with internal and external surface roughness
Research overview
This project aims to perform high-fidelity numerical simulations of film cooling in turbomachinery components with surface roughness to quantify effects of roughness on film cooling effectiveness and better understand the resulting flow interactions. The findings could be used to assist future design and optimisation of film cooling systems with more accurate performance predictions, and potentially shed further insight into the generation of vortical structures in transverse jets.
