Thesis title
Direct numerical simulation and modelling of supersonic jet in cross flow
Research overview
In turbomachinery, such as gas turbine combustors, jets of cool air help prevent turbine blades from overheating. While higher inlet temperatures improve efficiency, they can exceed the blade material’s melting point. To mitigate this, turbine blades are film-cooled using low-velocity air jets against the high-temperature crossflow. Currently, I am exploring data assimilation and machine learning techniques to develop a model for this flow.
