Thesis title

Development of an Experimental Facility and Investigation of Rayleigh–Taylor Instability in Stratified Fluids Using Optical Measurement Techniques

Research overview

This research investigates the dynamics of Rayleigh–Taylor instability (RTI), a fundamental phenomenon in fluid mechanics where fluids of different densities interact under acceleration. We are developing a dedicated experimental setup to enable precise optical measurements and to study RTI-driven turbulent mixing under various conditions. By capturing the evolution of mixing structures and flow patterns over time, we aim to enhance the understanding of flow behaviour at different stages of mixing and validate predictive models. These insights help tackle complex problems in geophysical and energy-related systems.
