Thesis title
Influence of near-wall flow steering on the structures of turbulent boundary layers.
Research overview
Turbulent boundary layers, despite their chaotic appearance, are governed by organized, coherent structures that significantly influence the flow dynamics. My research aims to experimentally explore how these structures are affected or altered by near-wall flow steering mechanisms, such as sinusoidal riblets. By understanding how these structures respond to such flow modifications, we can gain deeper insights into the physical processes driving turbulent drag reduction. This knowledge not only advances our understanding of turbulent boundary layers but also has tremendous implications within the transport and energy sectors.
