Thesis title

Biosignals based human intent estimation in human robot interaction

Research overview

Human-robot collaboration focuses on enhancing work efficiency and ergonomics. However, an underlying challenge is the robot’s ability to understand and predict human motion intention. While impedance control is commonly used, it often fails to actively respond to human movements. Existing methods developed using biosignals and adaptive control models still rely on visual feedback, thus limiting dynamic response. This research proposes developing a predictive algorithm using real-time biosignal data, specifically muscular contraction activity in the torso, to create a closed-loop feedback system. The algorithm, implemented in a single-degree-of-freedom prototype, aims to improve dynamic adaptation to human motion intention, advancing assistive robotics.
