Industry 4.0 IOT

This project is developing low cost open source IOT monitoring hardware and software, to instrument a factory for monitoring and collecting process data.  This is for purposes including condition health monitoring and quality control. We are exploring methods to capture data using open source automation including Raspberry Pi hardware, local cloud time series databases such as Influx, open source dashboards for real-time monitoring such as Grafana, and automated statistical analyses with Python.

We are also exploring additional easy-to-use data collection for factory automation, such as QR code tracking using simple mobile phones.

The data collected is being explored for conditional health monitoring of the production equipment, diagnostics and prognostics.  We are also exploring correlations among the equipment and with inspected outcomes, to develop automated root cause analysis of defects that can arise.
