Thesis Title
Biomechanical evaluation of the impact of high tibial osteotomy to osteoarthritis knees during walking
Research overview
There are two aims in the research:
1. Quantification of soft-tissue-artifact (STA) on calculated 3-dimentioanl knee kinematics and moments for healthy and total-knee-arthroplasty subjects during walking. The mobile bi-plane fluoroscopic imaging system was used to accurately quantify the STA.
2. Biomechanical evaluation of the impact of high tibial osteotomy to osteoarthritis knees during walking. There is an enhanced static optimization method developed to simultaneously calculate the tibial-femoral contact forces, ligament forces and muscle forces.
