Thesis Title
Nanoscience based continuum models for dynamic aqueous electrolyte transport in nanoslits
Research overview
Different ions with the same charge can behave distinctively in bulk liquids or interfacial systems, which is called the ion-specific effect. Some experiments indicated that new fundamental ion-specific phenomena can be enabled by nanopores. However, the phenomena cannot be well explained by traditional theories. What we aim to do is to develop new theoretical models to understand and exploit ion-specific effects in nanopores. We will use Molecular Dynamics (MD) as the main principle to do simulations and develop model under the framework of PB theory and PNP theory, to investigate the include ion dynamics.
