Thesis Title

High-fidelity Simulations in Axial Compressor and Turbine Research

Research overview

In this research program, the main objectives are within fundamental research of axial compressor and turbine design. As a first step, the in-house developed “High-Performance Solver for Turbulence and Aeroacoustic Research” will be reviewed and extended to handle newly considered, complex geometries of interest. Secondly, large-scale simulations will be run on latest, high-performance and GPU-accelerated computing facilities in Australia and abroad. Finally, the obtained results will be analyzed critically, summarized and provide insight into current loss generation mechanisms in order to design more efficient gas turbines.
